A delivery driver, a sales rep between calls, a contractor hauling equipment — if the driver was acting in the course and scope of employment, the employer may be liable and the available coverage changes by an order of magnitude.
Signs worth noting at the scene: company markings, a commercial plate, a DOT number, uniform or badge, cargo, or the driver mentioning a delivery or a job. Photograph everything.
